Every season Simon Cowell says that one or more contestants reminds him of Clay Aiken. I just want to know what the hell he is thinking? Simon must be thinking of someone else because though Clay has arguably the best voice to come from AI, he is also one hell of a performer. He is the epitome of an artist that makes a song his own. I am more impressed with him the more I hear him.
We all know that his arrangement of Bridge Over Troubled Water has been copied by Leona Lewis and other contestants on shows that Simon Cowell is involved with but I doubt if Simon has ever seen Clay in concert.
The video below is from the last night of Clay’s 2007 tour. It is traditional for the cast and crew to play pranks on each other during the last show. The song is ” I Wanna Know What Love Is”. Clay’s backup singers usually choose between themselves which one will duet with Clay each night and Clay tries to guess who it is. The singers prank him this time by both singing with him. The resulting performance is absolutely amazing with no rehearsal in advance they are completely comfortable singing on the fly. His range is amazing and he never even has to go into falsetto on the high notes.

Absolutely fantastic singer and performer!!! I will NOT miss his next concert tour. Have seen many singers on stage, and NO ONE sings as well live as Clay Aiken. It is just unreal, and he is so much fun. He needs no studio help at all, and I cannot say that for anyone else, from Idol or elsewhere. I’ve been to all but 2 of Clay’s concerts (all over the USA), but this particular performance was not among them, and it just makes me smile every time I watch it. Is there some way you can put it back on top so everyone who hasn’t seen it will get a chance to do so? It’s so typical of the way he interacts with the girls, and they always make me feel so good; I’d love for others who may not have seen it to get the chance to smile too. I am just beginning to love CLAY AIKEN. Watched his AI days in Youtube and WOW! WOW! he is really one of a kind! I was at that concert in Orlando and he had everyone on their feet. He can sing anything and what I love about his concerts is he truly entertains for 2-3 hours. You get a concert and a comedy show for the price of one. A real voice(Quote)

Love your blog — Clay puts on a real show. I loved the 2005 Jukebox Tour where he went from playing a bit of piano & singing Love Me Tender to a medley of songs from Elvis, Buddy Holly, the Beatles, some of his own songs, to singing Ricky Martin’s La Vida Loca. At his 2007 Tour his imitation of Geroge Jefferson was a scream — plus his campy renditions of Sexy Back, She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy, and Beat It were so much fun! I have seen many MANY concerts and Clay is up there with the best of them! Not only is his voice stunning (you just don’t know how stunning until you hear him live), but he is so FUNNY!! He is in tune with the audience like no one I have ever seen. He feeds off of them, jokes with them, makes them feel they are part of the show.

LOL! And the trying to out do each other on holding the final note. That’s why fans love his concerts so much. He and they relaxe on stage and have honest fun that leaves the audience with a giant smile on their faces when it’s over.
