Ameristar Casino is warning that some tickets being resold out there are fake:
David Cook Warning: Re-Sold Tickets Could Be Fake
Ameristar Casino is hosting Blue Springs native, American Idol David Cook in his only Kansas City concert during his recent tour. Friday, the casino issued a warning that it has received some reports of fake tickets being offered for sale. The American Idol's Ameristar Casino show on April 22 sold out. According to Ameristar public relations manager Roxann Kinkade, the 1,300 seats sold out in six minutes. Kinkade said of the folks in line at Ameristar to buy tickets, only four actually got seats.
"To my knowledge, this has been Ameristar's most quick selling show," said Kinkade.
Now, Ameristar says someone has approached them who tried to buy tickets through the web site Craigslist, and never received them. Ameristar learned that some tickets also have been offered for sale on ticket resale web sites for seats that do not exist in the pavilion. Ameristar also has some concerns about tickets that may have been offered for sale before the Feb. 9 public "on sale" date, when legitimate tickets first became available.
"We have no way of knowing how many of these tickets may have been purchased, but we don't want even one guest to be surprised and disappointed on concert night if he or she discovers a ticket isn't legitimate," said Ameristar Casino Hotel General Manager Chet Koch.
Ameristar says it can only guarantee tickets sold through the Ameristar Box Office or www.tickets.com.
Also an interesting bit from the above article is:
Cook did recently announce he will perform at the University of Central Missouri, but tickets are being reserved for students, staff and alumni. That show is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28.
Which makes this next article interesting since it addresses David Cook's efforts to change the prevailing demographics of his target audience:
‘Idol’ winner to play at LCCC’s Stocker Center
“American Idol” winner David Cook will be the popular, long-running TV talent search show’s first major star to perform locally when he takes the Stocker Arts Center stage for a May 26 concert.Cook’s stop in Elyria is part of a major tour in which the rock singer is focusing on smaller college campuses featuring more intimate performance venues, according to Stocker Arts Center Director Janet Herman-Barlow.
“He’s been trying to attract more of a student audience and more of a younger audience,’’ Herman-Barlow said. “We know David Cook has been looking for campuses that have about 1,000 seats, and we fit right into that size range.”
The concert also serves as a way of broadening the college’s appeal to audiences that don’t yet fit the profile of older patrons of the arts who subscribe to the long-running Performing Artists Series.
“We love our subscribers,” Herman-Barlow said. “This is a means of offering people something who aren’t yet subscribers but may be one day.”
