Making the rounds of the Internet for a few weeks is a video of American Idol contestant Adam Lambert singing The National Anthem.
At one point, Adam stops singing, begins bleating like sheep and then proceeds to flub the lyrics to the Anthem.
Considering how protective Americans are about the Anthem, it is surprising the video has not resulted in negative comments.
Contrast that with the way Denise Richards is raked over the coals for the way she delivered “Take Me out to the Ball Game” at a baseball stadium.
Below is the video of Adam’s performance.

I’m sure I’m out numbered here, but I just.cant.stand.this.guy. He more performance artist than “performer” and physically does nothing for me. blech
I think AI “jumped the shark” this year. I stopped watching when it became the adam lambert show. I wish I liked him because there is very little else on. But I’d rather watch nothing. LOL

I ADORE Adam! He flubbed up once, so what? The guy can sing! The best to come around in a long time.

If this had been anyone else butchering and basically making fun of the song, they would have been raked over the coals. But it’s Adam Lambert so it is ok?
Tacky performance by an even tackier guy.

Adam Lambert is all show and no sincerity. I really find his over-the-top performances off-putting and phony.

I think Adam is extremely talented and has an excellent voice . However I am shocked and disappointed to see this video . Perhaps my opinion is stronger than many because I am a military wife but his complete disrespect for the National Anthem definitely changes my good feelings for him .

This performance was at the Burning Man Festival and was a political commentary on the Bush Administration and how many in America followed Bush “like sheep” into one fiasco after another. There are many other online links with more info – don’t just react to this – research the background! Adam was simply exercising his right to free speech, not “dissing the anthem.” Notice the other performers in the background – he wasn’t alone.

I’m not crazy about this video but people do all kinds of crazy stuff at Burning Man. I love Adam and I think he is indeed iconic. That being said, its okay not to like him, this is America; just lighten up! Its not a life or death issue!

It was a political satire. People were unhappy with the Bush administration for good reason and that was shown overwhelmingly by the way they voted for President Obama. Consider the surroundings, The Burning Man is certainly a laid-back atmosphere as well. I do not believe Adam Lambert meant any disrespect to the national anthem, he was simply doing a humorous sketch much like Saturday Night Live does to make a statement about the dissatisfaction to the then current administration.

You can find excuses for a star mocking your National Anthem in public? !!!
Some people have such a good sense of humour but not enough respect for their country and their nation.

Adam Lambert is a very good performer, me and my boyfriend voted for him on American Idol. So many in the business have really noticed Adam. Given his talent, I would guess Adam will be someone many will want to work with, but he is a highly creative artist and won’t slip into someone elses shoes for long.
