Adam Lambert says he’s gay. Shocking.

In the most un-shocking acknowledgment of sexuality since Clay Aiken, “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert tells Rolling Stone that he is, indeed, gay.
Yes. Stunned, aren’t you?
In “Rolling Stone,” apparently, our little Glambert explains that he was going to say something to the reporters after his finals loss to Kris Allen, but figured outing himself in Rolling Stone would be cooler. He’s right, actually. The thing is, is anyone surprised? And now that he’s stated the obvious, is this going to change how anybody feels about him? I figure those that were inclined not to like him because of his sexuality made their minds up before they ever got confirmation.
Then again, I’m reminded of the response of several Claymates when Clay (who is perhaps the nicest celebrity I’ve ever met) came out in print. Some were shocked, and some felt lied to, although he never said he was or wasn’t.
Adam, of course, has been photographed kissing a dude, so this shouldn’t shock anyone. The thing is that Adam and Clay have two completely different images – Clay was almost asexual, while Adam and the piercings and the leather and the “Whole Lot of Love” is a post-modern delicious sex kitten. Girl, I think he’s fine. No matter that he’d have no interest in me. He’s just…sexy.
