He is supposed to be a guy who loves music and wants to make music and be a rockstar more than anything else in the world, right? This is what he’s always said. So why is it that we have heard nothing about music from him since the finale? Why is it that every time you hear “Adam Lambert” it’s synonymous with the line “is he gay?” or “Rolling Stone cover” or “he kissed another guy at some club.”
Could it be that Mr. Lambert really just hogs the spotlight and doesn’t care if it’s the microphone or another man’s tongue that gets him there?
In any other situation, I would be fine with this. I think people who want to be infamous and attain star status and will do anything to get it are great. I think it’s amazing to see people work for their goals. However, I think that the integrity of American Idol and what that show is supposed to be about has been compromised. I think that the show is supposed to be about finding singing talent; the next great artist. It appears now that he doesn’t even care about that. It appears that all he cares about is building up attention to his issue of Rolling Stone that contains the least surprising article the magazine has ever run. We know you’re gay. We know this. We didn’t need to wait on a magazine to tell us this. In his interviews since the finale of American Idol we have heard millions of questions pertaining to his sexuality, rumored crush on Kris Allen and impromptu feud with Clay Aiken and the bare minimum about a singing career or music. This is a tragedy and it makes me sad that some other amazing artist missed out on their chance at a singing career because Adam Lambert wanted fame.
Because, to me there is a big difference between wanting fame and having a worthwhile career and Adam Lambert crossed that a long time ago.

I agree that Lambert is crass and I think he played the American Idol audience like a violin.
I know enough about him now that he is a complete turn-off. Mary Olivia(Quote)
This whole Adam thing is such a circus. I am already sick of him and he hasn’t even put out product yet.
This is the year that American Idol has crossed the line for me. This is the ultimate dumbing down of America. Unfortunately Adam was force fed to the American public over and over and over. He has some talent, but so do a lot of other real singers. AI is all about buzz, money and creating whatever they think will be the next “headline grabber.” Unfortunately for Adam it is his orientation.
I do think he is coming off as crass, fake and arrogant. He is trying way to hard to be the cool kid, the rock God (that one makes me laugh), and sexy. If you have to try that hard, something ain’t right. whatavoice(Quote)
He comes across like it’s all a big joke for him. He gets to dress up and play games while he gets his name out there. Sandi(Quote)
I was more impressed with his mom during the 20/20 interview than I was with him. How wonderful to find a parent so accepting and non-judgmental of her son.
I’ve known many gay men who did not have that kind of acceptance from their families, and it was devasting for them when their families totally disowned them for being gay.
I’m glad for Adam that he had the support of his mom (and apparently of his dad) and that he didn’t have to go through the painful struggles that so many closeted men and women have to face before comining out.
And, not to take anything away from his talent because I think he has a good voice, but I do think he’s playing games when he talks about being ‘bi-curious’ and wondering who the ‘lucky lady’ might be if he gets drunk enough to more than make out with her.
From what I’ve seen of him, he is coy, duplicitous, and arrogant. Fame can be fleeting, and he needs more than a ‘bad boy’ attitude to sustain a truly successful career. Anne(Quote)
Just want to WORD what Karma said above me. Adam should know better since he is not a novice in the business. A lot of the words that he has been using in all these interviews are perhaps for shock value but not smart IMHO. I think the proof will be in the pudding once he puts out an actual product. Let’s see how those sales go. And if any of you ladies think Adam is gonna “do you” think again. He is gay.
Meanwhile I plan on backing the real American Idol, Kris Allen. luluasst(Quote)
“The integrity of American Idol”? You’re joking, right? The show is the ultimate in calculation and audience manipulation. There is no integrity, just the laser-focused goal of making a lot of money! Adam isn’t compromising anything, except his personal privacy, but that’s his call. So far I think he’s handled the madness really well. ellie(Quote)
Nancy & Kesta – I understand where you’re coming from but that is not reality. Adam cannot ignore the media, it would be career suicide. He needs to learn to direct the interviewers TACTFULLY away from these types of questions.
Also, he needs to learn to not throw out stuff like bi-curious, he’s only adding to the fire when he says things like that. He’s been in the business long enough that he should have a little bit of a handle on the press – more so than most of the other contestants.
It also could be that he doesn’t have a good publicist (and I could go on about his publicist, but I won’t), but he needs to learn how to answer questions to defuse them and he absolutely is not doing that – he’s just prolonging the discussion. Karma(Quote)
Your kidding right? This has nothing to do with Adam and everything to do with the media not leaving him alone. Adam wants it to be about the music, but is anyone asking him? At least after tonight, it will all be out there and either the media will leave him alone for a while to concentrate on his music or he will just have to decide to do so himself.
He has told us from day one it is about singing. People like you that write about him just make everything worse. Kaetsa(Quote)
Are you kidding? He’s not asking the questions….the crazy headline seeking media keeps sexuality at the forefront. He has been very nonchalant about it in hopes of getting all this hooplah behind him before the tour this summer!
He has talked about the music as much as possible, but certainly cannot control the questions that are posed to him.
Please think before you hate. nancy(Quote)
