It had been marvelous. You seem very knowledgeable in your area. Gene Eddie(Quote)
Well color me all kinds of surprised at Taylor Swift being #5. I didn’t like the arrangement at all but I’m surprised that I liked her voice a lot. Reminds me of Jewel.
I judged Boyle as dull and Archie just ok. Not surprised that I judged Sugarland and Chris Brown as just bad. I like the lead singer of Sugarland but she’s no Christmas Carol singer. As far as Chris Brown, I have no clue. stargazer(Quote)
Thanks, MJ, I’ll go hunt it down. stargazer(Quote)
Taylor Swift was #5? I really did not like that one at all. priscilla(Quote)
I did that yesterday for O Holy Night. I updated this one just now. MJ(Quote)
l) no.6 – pure heavenly vocals with complete reverence for this classic song
2) no.l – ok but far below no.6
3) no.3 – ok
4) no.2 – boring and vocals not that outstanding
5) no.4 – don’t like the vocal gymnastics
6) no.5 – is the singer singing the same song as the others? jenn(Quote)
MJ, when are you going to tell us who the singers are?
Did you post the singers for O Holy Night yet? stargazer(Quote)
#6 Perfection. He also seemed to be the only singer who hit the low notes easily.
Rating the rest is difficult:
#2 was just ok.
#1 was listenable but very dull
#5 is next simply because of her beautiful voice. I don’t appreciate someone taking a classic Christmas Carol and changing the music so that you can’t sing along.
#3 and #4 pretty bad stuff. stargazer(Quote)
Amazing, all the ratings are very similar to each other! I swear I didn’t look at them before making my list! mary(Quote)
Here is my list from best to worst:
#6 perfection!
#2 Good voice
#1 Good voice, not as good as #2 (she sounds like Leona but I’m probably wrong)
#3 So so. Probably Fantasia but again, I might be wrong
#4 Did not like it very much
#5 Really bad mary(Quote)
#6…Hands down! His voice is so rich, and the song is song as it should be.
#1 good female voice and nice and simple
#2 also good voice and fairly good arrangement
#3 good at the beginning, then awful
#4 Yuck
#5 bad also Lorraine(Quote)
From best to worst:
#6 – Definitely the best – purely sung & chorus did not overshadow the beautiful vocals.
#1 Best female vocal, but chorus got annoying.
#2 Good, but dull – made a slow song even slower.
#3 Not a fan of the OTT, funky, Gospel style. The breathing issues were also very noticeable.
#4 Beginning was good, but very annoying after that.
#5 Did not like the arrangement at all. She has a very good voice, but I would have ranked her much higher if she sang a more traditional version. CC(Quote)
I like #6 the best… it is sung the way it should be, simple and true to the original sound.
I also love that voice, no mistaking it is there? Llana(Quote)
6-The best; had to listen to it twice.
1-This one is very good.
2-Good but did not like embellishments.
3-Was okay but I wouldn’t buy it.
4 & 5- I did not like at all. penguin(Quote)
6, Beautiful because it is pure and simple
1, not bad
2, just ok
4, 5,3 did not like their interpretation at all! Cyndy(Quote)
#6 was a sung purely and simply the way a hymn should be presented.
#1 nice voice, I wouldn’t turn it off.
#’s 2,3,& 4 were not good, but not all bad
#5 was horrid.
Summary of best to worst 6,1, 2,3,4, 5 katy(Quote)
Not my favorite song to begin with, but I’ll give it a try
#1 – nice voice, I’m not sure about the sound? The vocals are simple, which I appreciate – but the production is a little on the funky side
#2 – I like the voice, not sure about the phrasing – but his voice is pure. The song is too long – over 4 minutes is too much. Sorry MJ, I only made it about half way – got boring.
#3 – okay, I guess I’m going to be the minority here, but I actually kind of enjoyed this version – at least in the beginning. It’s different, but the breathing was very distracting! It did start getting a tad bit over the top about 2 minutes into the song, so I had to shut this one down too…
#4 – I enjoyed about the first minute – sometimes less is more and this version could have used a little “less” (although the female singer could have used a little bit “more” very stiff sounding)
#5 – okay I made it through 25 seconds, hated the arrangement. The singer is good, but I thoroughly disliked the arrangement.
#6 – That’s how I remember Silent Night – simple and pure. Although, quite honestly, I don’t like the background vocals at all (I have this weird thing about background vocals)
so, rating one of my least favorite songs, I’d have to go (please note, I only made it through all of #6 and #1 – the rest I had to turn off)
#6, #1, #2, #3, #4, #5
(kind of looks like a pattern, but it’s my honest opinion) Karma(Quote)
6&1 are the best. Pure clean singing. #1’s chorus was too loud and overpowering at the end.
#2 next even though I don’t like this guy’s voice, sounds like he sings through his nose, but it was a nice arrangement.
#3 was not good but #4 &5 were simply horrible. priscilla(Quote)
I think #6 has the most passion and commitment. I did like #2 also.
Did not like #3,4 and definitely not #5
#1- just meh Marah(Quote)
Heres my order
#6 He sung it the way it should be sung!!
#2
#1 really dont like this version but I dont like 3,4,or 5!!! Me(Quote)
From best to worst:
#6 – beautiful tone, no breath control issues. Simple song sung the way it should be. Nice touch with background choir and singers voice was always front and center.
#1 – simple and clean version. Only thing was when the choir got a bit loud, but very nice version of the song.
#2 – didn’t like this version, but the ones following were worse so had to put this one in this position. This singer took a slow song to begin with and made it much slower. Dull.
#3, #4, #5 all are competing for the worst spot. Still cleaning my ears after the 3 of them. Talk about ruining a classic Christmas song. Just yuck. Just Me(Quote)
